SPRING 2025 W – Shared and Short-burst Writing

For Primary Headteachers, English Subject Leaders, KS2 and KS3 Teachers.

What the training will cover

This course will focus on how short-burst writing can be used to develop a young writer’s ability to manipulate their audience and create different effects.

We will explore how deep and rich reading influences writing and look at strategies for creative writing, reading as a writer and how to co-construct toolkits for a desired purpose.

We will look at the impact short-burst writing has on vocabulary acquisition, the importance of toolkit progression and how we can add in levels of complexity to engage the reader.

Finally, we will explore how toolkits can drive composition, enabling children to write confidently and cohesively.
